Update: I noticed that there is another head for the device. This other head holds the smaller attachments. I reused the unit with the smaller attachments and the suction and exfoliation was much better. At first, I had used the big head and big attachments which was clearly too much for my skin. My recommendation to the company is to do a BETTER instructional DVD. As for the scabbed skin, some of it peeled off and the skin under it is lighter than my regular skin tone. I hope the skin heals back to the right color.

I ordered this from SHOPNBC after the glowing reviews. I normally use the Brazillian Peel cream sold by Sephora, but wanted to try actual dermabrasion. This is supposed to be one of the closest things to actual dermabrasion. I don't know if the results are good or not. I have nice skin, but it is sensitive. My face is hurting today and bruised. That may be due to the fact that I really didn't know what I was doing and the instructional video was pretty short.

Anyway...

I used the product on a leg, arm, the face and the neck. Areas I went over only once are fine today. Areas I went over multiple times are bruised and scabbed.

What does this feel or seem like?

Imagine a sander for wood. The head of this thing looks like a sander and feels like a sander. The materials state that the filter is capturing skin. My skin is brown; the filter is catching the top of the head of the sander like device (the dermabrasive shavings). If it were removing skin, on me, the shavings would be brown.

Also, I used it on my toe and other places and I could tell that what you are doing is a skin sanding which may or may not be good for the skin. In other words, it is going across the skin, but it is not actually removing any skin (thank goodness).

What are the results?

For a first time use, the skin is either bruised or a little lighter, but not that noticeable.

What is the best part of this device?

The suction. Unfortunately, the suction is a hit or miss. If the suction was consistently strong, it would be a better device. If the device didn't cause bruising, it would be a better device.

Would I recommend this device?

Yes, because on ShopNBC it is $98.00 and, if you don't like it, you can return it. This means that you can try "microdermabrasion" without spending $150.00 for it at the aesthetician.

Wow...amazing product....I saw this system on 'The Doctors' .....I was convinced it would be a great investment and for the price? It's definitely worth the splurge! I've used this on my face probably four times by now and I can tell it's made a big difference in my skin. I'm 23 currently but have a few fine lines and rough skin from numerous acne products over the years and unfortunately people mistake me for being around five years older then I actually am....which is awful to hear at this early of an age. After using this system, I've had folks ask me numerous times if I've just graduated from high school!! lol...So obviously it's made a pretty impressive improvement in my skin, especially my large pores and rough skin texture. However I will say it's easy to be over-exuberant with the abrasion process especially after you see the results.....the third time I did it I over sanded my cheek area underneath the eyes and ended up with pretty significant scabbing, which scared the daylights out of me since I scar pretty easily....after it healed though my skin was back to normal and if anything even smoother in the area it had scabbed over!! Highly recommend this product...but definitely take the time to watch the instructional video!

Was pretty skeptical when I purchased this but read many great reviews and decided to go ahead and get one. I love it, I wish I'd known about them sooner. It's so convenient and wonderful to be able to do my own microdermabrasion and not even have to leave the house. Noticed it worked wonderful right away and I would recommend this to anyone who's able to follow the instructions on the Dvd because once you've actually watched the video you'll know how to use it properly.

I used to have a home microdermabrasion kit which I loved, but unfortunately it was discontinued by the manufacturer and, with it, the necessary replacement heads. I bought the Personal Microderm as a replacement for that.

I find the PM to be not as good as my old kit, but it is close to the results I've gotten from professional microdermabrasions. It seems to be better designed for those who want microdermabrasion for the sake of "fresher" skin and not if you have particular markings you hope to buff away. (I admittedly tend to go a little harsher on my own skin than is usually recommended; I don't mind a couple days of redness in the name of removing a scar or wrinkle more quickly.) It does a little less good of a job at scraping off acne scars and wrinkles, while often leaving more accidental red marks than my old kit. I found sometimes as well that your face might look red and over-irritated in some areas but not others, and after healing for a few hours it totally flips and suddenly the areas that had seemed fine have become all red while the initial red spots are fine. I would advise, in any event, not using this the night before you've got anything important to do.

Actually my main complaint with this device is that the heads wear out after only 3 or 4 times, and I go through the small ones a lot more often than the large ones. However, you can only buy sets of Personal Microderm Discs that contain *both* the large and small heads, even if all you need is more of the small heads (or only more large heads.) Someone needs to set up a swap for these -- surely there's got to be others who've dropped $15 on a set of replacement heads, half of which you don't need, and want to trade the surplus for the style they really wanted.

There is also a DVD the package is insistent you should watch -- it has this DVD instead of an instruction booklet. It tells you more or less how to assemble and maintain the machine, and then also gives instructions for the treatments. I still did have a little trouble figuring out how to detach the replacement heads (I finally figured out they just pull on and off, instead of being screw-on or something.)

I bought this product a few weeks ago hoping to save money and clear my blemished skin. Looking at my skin now, I can definitely say that my scars have lightened up and I get less pimples in the areas I concentrated on. After every use, my skin felt really smooth and supple that even my hubby noticed.

So far no regrets :) Just use it as directed and it can help you too ;)

I was so excited to receive this product for review, before accepting the offer I did a bit of research and read the reviews already out there on the PMD. I have some acne scarring from problems during my two pregnancies and thought this just might be the answer.

I have used the Personal Microderm System for 3 weeks now, once per week. If you receive this product do NOT use it without watching the product demo, this is extremely important, without watching the demo you could seriously hurt damage your skin.

The first day I used the product I was EXTREMELY careful, yet ended up with red streaks down my cheeks which ended up scabbing and some brilliant red circles on my cheekbones....I needed to attend a meeting that evening and quite a few people commented wondering what on earth happened to me. At this point I was pretty leery since I wanted to help my skin not harm it. It took almost a week, but my face healed up and I bravely gave myself a second treatment, it worked perfectly. I think the trick is to be certain you only go over each section of skin only one time and be sure not to hold in one spot for any length of time. After my third week I feel that my skin is much smoother and softer, I did notice the softness immediately.

The downside is that I can't seen to get the hang of using it on my hands, but it's a personal problem and in my opinion it is not a fault of the system.

There are two creams that are suggested for use with the PMD and I think it's a good idea to use them as well. I really like the PMD and do recommend it, just use a gentle hand.

For the few minutes it takes to use the PMD, and the results it has given me I think it is very well worth every penny. At $179.00 it really is a bargain if you compare the price to getting the same results at a Dr. office.

I am in the beauty industry, so I have been exposed to many skin care products, although this is the first skin sand blasting system i have used. I'm not a fan in the belief of sand blasting your skin off for a more youthful appearance, but i wanted to try this, I have some congested areas here and there but very minor,I do not have acne or bad skin, its always been pretty face skin, so when deciding to put money down, i was reluctant as the price is a little steep for a tool that's like a dremmel for the skin, however i am deciding to try it to see what will happen,
i used the sensitive, (blue tip) which is plenty for me,
this type of treatment leaves your face feeling a bit like a rug burn in some places, but i think that's normal when you do this type of treatment (other veteran skin blasters may know more about that)
my skin is feeling soft, albeit really red right now, but i think with regular treatment, my neck wrinkles and little brown spots will go away, i like the feeling on my decollete area as it feels more youthful and hopefully will tighten, but im not sure how that will happen. so far I think this is a good product although a bit high priced with the correct skin care regimen of high quality products, this should really do the trick
watch the instructional video, and the website and customer service is very helpful as i had to call them for something to be clarified before i used the tool, they even have a skin analysis in their customer service, so they are attentive and available for questions if you have any.

I would recommend this product and you will probably get good results. I will add more later as I experience good bad or no results
